Eleven routes from 78° north to 51° south
We walked every one of them ourselves before taking the first group. Small groups of up to twelve, local guides and dates chosen for each place’s best season.

Try another month or region. And if you want to go exactly there, exactly then — we’ll build a private trip.
How to read latitude
Latitude tells you what the light, the weather and the length of the day will be. It’s how we choose our dates.
Above the Arctic Circle
Midnight sun in summer, polar night in winter. Summer brings Svalbard with round-the-clock daylight; winter brings Lofoten, with the aurora on almost every clear night. The Gulf Stream keeps the Norwegian coast warmer than the map suggests.
The temperate latitudes
Four vivid seasons. Iceland and Alaska are at their best in summer and early fall, when the mountain roads are open, and the Canadian Rockies in February and March, when the ice is clear and strong. In the Southern Hemisphere the same latitudes belong to Patagonia, whose summer runs from November to March.
The subtropics
Gentle springs and falls, hot summers. Kyoto is loveliest in cherry blossom and red maple season, Morocco in spring and fall, when the desert is warm rather than scorching. Namibia, at 24° south, is cool and dry during our summer.
The tropics
The temperature barely changes; rain sets the seasons. We go to Costa Rica in the dry season, December to April. In Peru altitude matters more than latitude: the Andes are dry and clear from May to September.
